IATEFL, Exeter, UK, April 10th, 2008
| Macmillan asked me to speak at the IATEFL conference in Exeter this year, 2008. | |
| As there are so few resources available for CLIL learners and teachers and I'd been writing resources, vocabulary resources for the vocabulary practice series (Geography and Science) and writing materials for the onestopclil website, I decided to talk about where to get CLIL materials from. | |
| The long and short of it at the time of writing is that most teachers make their own materials. The VPS from Macmillan is quite unique and as such a welcome investment from Macmillan. Well done Macmillan! | There is a page on this site which presents what is available in the Science VPS book and CD http://www.factworld.info/macmillan/index.htm |
| The room was for a 100 participants, and there were colleagues sitting on the stairs, you get the idea that the room was packed out.
|
|
| The time zipped by, and the themes in my talk ranged from awareness of language usage and frequency in the content classroom to producing diagrammatical frames for processing language input. | |
| The other impressive part for me was that there were several colleagues who approached me at the end of the talk to ask for more information, take a card, share experiences about their home context. | |
| The whole of the PPT is here for download should colleagues be interested ... | |
| and there are two videos on YouTube uploaded by Matthew at Macmillan. | |
| Do get in touch with me if you'd like more information about the presentation or related issues. (keithpkelly@yahoo.co.uk). |
